Maybach was founded in 1909 by Wilhelm Maybach, who was the former technical director of Daimler, and Wilhelm's son Karl.
Maybach originally developed and manufactured engines for zeppelins, rail cars, and aircraft.
Vehicle production first began for them in 1921 which continued until 1940.
The company was purchased by Daimler-Benz in 1960. However, the Maybach brand was discontinued in 2013.
It couldn’t stay away forever though, Maybach was again revived in 2015, but this time as a sub-brand of Mercedes-Benz.
As of 2019, Maybach-Mercedes offers only two car models based on the S-Class sedan range.
In 2021 Daimler released an exciting concept of an electric vehicle in the Maybach range.
Since joining with Daimler and Mercedes-Benz, Maybach cars have been a beacon of luxury and elegance within the S Class range.
