Looking for an Aston Martin Vantage V8 or V12 for sale in the UK? The Aston Martin Vantage was released in 2005 as a direct competitor to the squat Porsche 911. Introduced at the Geneva Motor Show and immediately known as the V8 Vantage the two seater coupe employed a bonded aluminium structure for both lightness and strength. Featuring a hatch style rear door, the V8 Vantage was originally powered by a 4.4l quad cam 32 valve V8 engine producing 380BHP. This was upgraded on the 2008 Aston Martin Vantage with a 4.7 litre giving 420BHP.
Before talking about Aston Martin Vantage performance and spec in detail it has to be considered why this car was conceived. At the time there had been a huge gap in the Aston Martin range. The priivios 'modern' cars from the DB7 onwards were relatively large GT crs. Big engines, rear wheel drive, big performance. The ideal cross country mile muncher in style and comfort. But Porsche were having it all their own way with 911 sales. Porsche were introducing variants of the 911 that were gobbling up sales in this sector. Could Aston Martin create a car that would compete?
The 911 has always been a squat, fast sports car in the purest sense of the word. Aston were creating larger cars which look great and could do the UK to Monaco dash in style and comfort. But for a Sunday morning drive cross country to clear out teh cobwebs, Aston were not really producing anything. So onto the market cane the very sexy looking Aston Martin Vantage V8. A squat, sexy looking out and out sports car that was lighter and better handling than anything that Aston Matrtin had produced to date. Reviews at the time of launch were highly appreciative of the cars looks and style, however there were concerns that the car was 'fast enough' to be an outright 911 challenger. It certainly looked good, sounded good and had the style and class that Porsche has found hard to achieve. After all, buying an Aston Martin is very high on many people's wish lists.
